Since 1929, Guadalupe Recycling and Disposal Facility has been providing safe and reliable recycling and disposal services to San Jose and southern Santa Clara County residents and businesses. Guadalupe is owned and operated by Waste Management, the country’s leading environmental services company.

As well as being your local hardware store, Cole Hardware is a leader in environmental efforts through public outreach and education, and partnerships with various City agencies. We offer recycling for hard-to-recycle items like: batteries, CFL light bulbs, and paint.

Electronics re-use and recycling. Usable computers are refurbished and donated to public charities and community programs; unusable items are recycled. Drop off locations in Santa Rosa, San Francisco and Sunnyvale. Business pickups also available. Accept all electronics (laptops, computers, monitors, TVs, network/telephone/test equipment, cables/wires, motherboards, PC cards and memory, hard drives, and industrial & home electronics).

Accepts hazardous wastes from households and qualifying businesses in Alameda County. Accepted materials include: batteries, fluorescents, paints, adhesives, auto additives, pesticides, herbicides, some misc. chemicals, prescription and over the counter medicines (except for controlled substances). Does not accept asbestos, railroad ties, treated wood (arsenic). Also operates facilities located in Hayward, Livermore, and Oakland, which are each open on certain days for drop off. Call or check web site for addresses, hours, open dates, and detailed lists of what you can and cannot drop off.

TOYCYCLE’s mission is to reduce waste by connecting families in local toy reuse communities. They enable families, teachers and other child-centered non-profits or agencies to exchange gently-used toys through their website and mobile app in an effort to keep them out of landfill.

West Contra Costa County residents can properly dispose of household hazardous waste at the drive-through drop-off center - for no charge. Medical waste disposal is offered for most medications and sharps (no controlled substances). Call or visit website for acceptable materials, packaging guidelines, and directions. This facility is available to residents of El Cerrito, Hercules, Pinole, Richmond, San Pablo, El Sobrante, North Richmond, Kensington, Crockett, Port Costa and Tormey. Free Household Hazardous Waste Mobile Collection pickup service available to residents who are age 60 or older or are a disabled person residing in the cities of El Cerrito, Richmond, San Pablo, Hercules, Pinole or El Sobrante.
