Instructions

Although Berkeley doesn't pick up thin plastic film at curbside, you can collect bubble wrap, air pillows, plastic bags, and plastic wrap in a single plastic bag until it's the size of a basketball, to drop off at a local grocery store.

Alternatives

E-waste collective's accepts unused bubble wrap. Buy local instead of online. When you do buy online, group your purchases, don't opt for extra-fast shipping, and request less and recyclable packaging. After you receive your purchase, try to reuse the packaging again before disposal.

Facts

Packaging and containers make up 30% of the waste Americans send to the landfill, but only 15% is recycled.
