Instructions
Put disposable ice packs (plastic, filled with a gooey substance when unfrozen) in the landfill bin. If they are leaking, use a plastic bag to contain the chemical.
Alternatives
Use for as long as possible before disposal. An alternative for short periods is to freeze water in recyclable plastic containers that can be recycled.

These are a multiple material item (e.g. plastic & some liquid chemical), so not practically recyclable.
