Leftover paint can last for years if stored properly, including making sure it's sealed and stored upside down. You can also take leftover paint to an HHW facility to be donated to a supply of leftover and viable paint.

Each year, approx. 64 million gallons of paint are left over when jobs are done.PaintCare sites accept house paint and primers, stains, sealers, and clear coatings (e.g., shellac and varnish) but does not accept aerosols (spray cans), solvents, and products intended for industrial or non-architectural use. The acceptable products must be in their original containers that are no larger than 5 gallons in size, and the container must have a label and a secured lid.
