Metal Cans

Updated on August 28, 2019

Metal cans should be "mostly clean." Quickly rinse or wipe out food before putting in the blue recycling cart.

Buy fresh and from the bulk section using a reusable bag or container instead.

Metal cans (e.g., soup, beans) are usually made of steel and tin. Mining is associated with a number of environmental and social concerns, but metal can be continuously recycled so the need for more raw material can and should be minimized, such as by increasing recycling.
