Instructions

If there is plastic lining in your soup cup, it goes in the grey cart (landfill). It's only compostable if it has a BPI certification for compostability. Unlined and BPI certified lined soup cups may be placed in the green cart. Make sure any nonrigid plastic tops or paper covers goes in the gray landfill cart. If you're unsure of the certification, put in the gray landfill cart.

Alternatives

Bring a reusable (e.g. metal or ceramic) mug or container instead.

Facts

The University of Southern Indiana reports that every ton of recycled paper can spare 17 trees, 380 gallons of oil, 4,000 kilowatts of energy, 7,000 gallons of water and three cubic yards of space at the landfill.
