Instructions

Paper towels with water, food, or food grease on them can be put in the green, compost cart. If the paper towels have non-compostable substances, like windex, bleach, petroleum liquids, they must go in the gray, landfill cart. Double check what you have wiped up before you dispose of paper towels.

Alternatives

Bring a washable dishcloth or buy paper towels made of 100% recycled content and/or that are Forest Stewardship Council (FSC)-certified.

Facts

If every household in the United States replaced just one roll of virgin fiber paper towels (70 sheets) with 100% recycled ones, we could save 544,000 trees.
