Paper Towels

Updated on November 27, 2018

Put the soiled paper towels in the green cart, even if they have food or food grease on them. If they were used to clean up non-compostable materials (like bleach, windex, or petroleum based materials) put them in the grey (landfill) cart.

Bring a washable dishcloth or buy paper towels made of 100% recycled content and/or that are Forest Stewardship Council (FSC)-certified.

If every household in the United States replaced just one roll of virgin fiber paper towels (70 sheets) with 100% recycled ones, we could save 544,000 trees.
