Instructions
Plastic cups and plates are recyclable. If they are made of polystyrene foam (i.e., styrofoam) you need to put them in the gray landfill cart. If they are labeled "compostable," put them in the green compost cart.
Alternatives
Opt for a reusable container instead. In general, try to take less food to go by eating at the establishment or preparing more meals at home.
Facts
Disposable or “throw-away” items are generally not a good environmental option because a lot of energy and resources go into making and transporting them to be only used once.
