If the television is in good shape, sell or donate to a thrift store. If not working, the City of Berkeley accepts these at the Berkeley Transfer Station at 1201 Second St. Berkeley. Handling rates apply for 3 items and up; the first 2 items are free.


In general, opt for fewer electronics and limit yourself to 1 per household rather than multiple.


The materials used in making the part in a television include metals, plastics, glass, fluorescent chemical coatings, solder, and silicon. This kind of mixed material makes it very difficult to recycle, and much of it ends up polluting countries where e-waste is sent.
