Landfill

Instructions

Flocked trees are not compostable. Please place flocked trees in your grey, landfill cart. You may also choose to drop your holiday tree off at the City’s Transfer Station (1201 2nd St.) at no charge during the month of January. After January flocked trees will be charged the minimum refuse fee of $29. Information on why NOT to buy a flocked tree. https://zerowastenerd.com/stop-flocking-your-christmas-trees

Alternatives

Consider a living tree next holiday season so you or your community can continue to enjoy the plant even after the season is over.

Facts

Flocked trees are not compostable because the chemicals often used to create the "frosted" look are NOT compostable, and damage the quality of the resulting compost.
