Instructions

Although your city doesn't pick up thin plastic film, you can collect bubble wrap, air pillows, plastic bags, and plastic wrap in a single plastic bag until it's the size of a basketball to drop off at a local grocery store.

Alternatives

Lots of packaging waste is due to online shopping so try to buy local instead. When you do buy online, group your purchases, don't opt for extra-fast shipping, and request less and recyclable packaging. After you receive your purchase, try to reuse the packaging before disposal.

Facts

Packaging and containers make up 30% of the waste Americans send to the landfill, but only 15% is recycled.
