As long as the cardboard is empty, not greasy or food-stained, you can recycle it. If greasy or food-stained, put in compost.

Opt for a reusable container instead, and carry it with you.

Facts

Paper can only be recycled a handful of times. It's made up of long fibers that get shorter each time it's recycled, making it more difficult to recycle the next time.
