If in good shape, sell or donate. Wood can be composted unless it's painted, stained, treated, plywood, or pressboard. If too long or too much for the compost bin, see "Long loose items."
Alternatives
If possible reuse the wood for another project.
Facts
Commercial composting operations will 'chip' the wood into small pieces which will compost in their industrial piles.
